This paper documents the current status of oil and gas reserves and production in Papua New Guinea. It then provides an assessment of future prospects for the industry in the context of both the international market for oil and gas and local constraints on the industry＇s growth. Finally, an estimate of the impact of the industry＇s development on the economy of PNG is presented.
