Use of wood as an energy source in Turkey
Wood is likely to remain a predominant source of energy for households in the Black Sea region of Turkey because the affordable alternatives are limited This condition is valid for some other regions of the country also. Preparation of a three-stone fire is very attractive to the villagers in our region. On the other hand, wood is the most practical fuel for serving a large number of people because the sire of the batch of food is only limited by the volume of the pot and not by the size of the stove burner. The present study shows that Turkish forests would be totally lost after 67 years. Therefore social, economic, and cultural measures and, especially energy forests have to be given a chance to change the status quo.
