Growth and thermal properties of Cr3+: KAl(MoO4)(2) crystal
This paper reports growth and thermal properties of Cr3+:KAl(MoO4)(2) crystals. A Cr3+:KAl(MoO4)(2) crystal with dimensions of 45 x 35 x 10mm(3) was grown from a flux of K2Mo3O10 by the top-seed solution growth (TSSG) method. Cr3+:KAl(MoO4)(2) crystal melts incongruently at 722 degrees C. The thermal expansion coefficients of Cr3+:KAl(MoO4)(2) crystals are: alpha(a)= -3.80 x 10(-6) K-1 and alpha(c) = 78.7 x 10(-6) K-1, respectively. The specific heat value is 0.32J/gK at 313K. The atomic force microscope (AFM) images of (001) cleavage plane of Cr3+:KAl(MoO4)(2) crystal were investigated. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
