Growth of LiCoPO4 single crystals using an optical floating-zone technique
The first successful growth of LiCoPO4 single crystals by the floating-zone technique is reported. Typical crystals were 5 mm in diameter and 50-70 mm in length and were obtained from Co-3(PO4)(2). 6H(2)O and Li3PO4 starting materials. The single crystals had a dark purple colour. A crystallographic study of the material showed that LiCoPO4 has the classical orthorhombic olivine structure. (C) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
