STUDIES OF CONSTANT RATE FILTRATION IN DEAD-END AND CROSS-FLOW MODES
The paper reports practical and theoretical aspects of constant rate filtration. The practical studies were made using a self-cleaning candle filter, operated in crossflow and dead-end modes, using various aqueous slurries. The normal productivity of the equipment observed in conventional flow conditions was compared with separations conducted using low-velocity crossflow. Optimisation of the process is reported analytically for relatively incompressible materials.
