Kinetics of the reaction of TiO X-3 Delta with O-2, H-2, N-2, CH4, C2H6, and C2H4
We report the kinetics of the gas-phase reactions of TiO X-3 Delta with O-2, H-2, N-2, CH4, C2H4, and C2H6 at 297 K and total pressures of up to 2.00 Torr using an argon bath gas. TiO was produced by the reaction of Ti atoms generated by laser vaporization with 02 and was detected using cavity ring-down spectroscopy. No reaction was observed with H-2, N-2, CH4, and C2H6. The rate constant with C2H4 was found to depend on the total pressure, suggesting a reaction mechanism involving an adduct formation. (c) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
