Time evolution of the v(2) IR absorption of (o-H-2)(n): H2O clusters (n=11-1), and increase of H2O rotation, in O-2 doped solid hydrogen at 4.2 K
We have observed the time evolution of (o-H-2)n: H2O clusters, trapped in solid H-2 at 4.2 K over a period of 178 h, using O-2 to catalyse the ortho to para-nuclear spin conversion of solid H2. The clusters observed at time 0 of the experiment ( n = 11-1) are identified for the first time. Each cluster increases and decreases over time and in turn, to give eventually rotating H2O. The H2O: O2 complex is assigned at 1593.1 cm (-1) in solid para- hydrogen. (c) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
