Growth of GaInSb concentrated alloys under alternating magnetic field
GaInSb samples with a nominal concentration of 12 and 20% mol InSb have been grown by the vertical Bridgman technique under alternating magnetic field. The solid-liquid interface shape and position have been studied for several values of the magnetic field (0-6mT). The solutal distribution in the grown samples has been checked using particle-induced X-ray emission technique (PIXE). Others investigated parameters have been the initial position of the solid/liquid interface in the coil and the crucible materials. An improvement of the quality and a delay in the morphological destabilisation is observed for the samples grown under 3 mT compared to those without electromagnetic stirring. Some discrepancies, compared with numerical simulations, are concerning the exact shape of the solid-liquid interface during the growth that appears to be more sensitive than expected to the initial position of the sample in the coil.
