Phase equilibrium measurements in complex systems of fats, fat compounds and supercritical carbon dioxide
Experimental phase equilibrium data was determined for various complex mixtures of fats and fat compounds with supercritical carbon dioxide over a range of temperatures and pressures. A static analytical apparatus was used, and samples of the low volatile components were analyzed by GC and HPLC. Hence, distribution coefficients of individual components or pseudocomponents could be calculated. It showed to be very important to consider the composition of the whole mixture, if the behavior of individual components in this mixture is discussed. Therefore mixtures of miscellaneous compositions were investigated. The data present a very useful basis for the design of countercurrent separation processes with supercritical carbon dioxide.
