Excess volumes and excess thermal expansivities for binary mixtures of 2-ethoxyethanol with non-polar solvents at temperatures between 283.15 K and 328.15 K
Measurements of densities between 283.15 K and 328.15 K at 15 K intervals are reported for binary mixtures of 2-ethoxyethanol with non-polar solvents (n-octane, cyclohexane and benzene). Excess volumes and excess thermal expansivities and the pressure derivatives of the enthalpies were estimated therefrom. The excess volumes and temperature derivatives of the excess volumes for all these systems were found to be positive. The (2-ethoxyethanol + benzene) system shows asymmetric behaviour of VE With the mole fraction of 2-ethoxyethanol, though the other systems show nearly symmetric behaviour. The change in volume upon mixing, the behaviour of the excess thermal expansivities, and the pressure derivatives of the enthalpies for these systems are discussed in terms of free volume effect.
