Sub-surface sedimentary samples from various wells (LNR-1, DND-1, MNW-1, BT-3 and TOT-I) situated in the Jaisalmer Basin (India) have been studied using Mossbauer spectroscopy. A possible correlation between the presence of siderite, redox environment and quality of source rocks is discussed.
