Column-chromatography has some limitations in group compositional analysis of heavy petroleum (asphalt). However, the new method of Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) combined with Hydrogen Flame Ionized Detector (FID) is used. This method has advantages of rapidity and correctness, particularly fits to low-containing asphalts sample.
