Reactive formation of dicarbon from the reactions of electronically excited radicals, CH(A(2)Delta) and CCl(A(2)Delta)
The 2 x 193 nm photodissociations of CHCl3 and CCl4 have been examined using dispersed emission. It was found that the initial photodissociation of CHCl3 forms large amounts of CH(A(2) Delta) while the photodissociation of CCl4, forms lesser but still significant amounts of CCl(A(2) Delta). Emission rise time measurements show that photoproducts quickly react to form C-2(d(3)II(g)). (C) 2008 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
