The electrical conductivity of ceria solid solutions has been extensively investigated I-or many years, and many theories have been advanced to explain the differences seen in ostensibly identical materials. This short review looks at some recent theoretical and experimental evidence which has thrown new light onto the complex interplay between the cation and anion sublattice in these technologically important materials.
