Modelling of heat transfer in packed bed regenerators is a topic of great significance in the performance evaluation of such systems. The reliability of the predictions would be influenced by the descriptiveness of the employed mathematical equations. Refined models have been developed and solved numerically in order to assess the suitability of certain commonly used simplifying assumptions. In addition, the computational models have been used to analyse a series of published experimental data.
