LIQUID-SOLID MASS-TRANSFER IN 3-PHASE INVERSE FLUIDIZED-BED (TPIFB)
The liquid-solid mass transfer in three-phase inverse fluidized bed (TPIFB) was studied by means of electrochemical technique. The influence of main parameters on the mass transfer rate was evaluated, but the following statements are valid in the range of variables covered in this study. It was found that the liquid flowrate and the particle diameter do not affect the liquid-solid mass transfer. An increase in the density difference between the liquid and the solid phases and a decrease in viscosity of the liquid phase positively affect the mass transfer rate. In contrast to the classic fluidized bed, it was found that in TPIFB the gas flowrate does not affect the mass transfer. A correlating equation describing the mass transfer in three-phase inverse fluidized bed (TPIFB) was proposed.
