Skeletal isomerization of n-hexane over platinum-loaded h-mordenite
The hydroisomerization of n-hexane on platinum/hydrogen-mordenite catalyst was investigated over a wide range of operating conditions. The effect of temperature and liquid hourly space velocity on the yield of liquid and gas products, their composition and properties were examined. Experimental results showed that monobranched isomers and dibranched ones are produced consecutively during skeletal rearrangement. Cracking reactions occurred only at higher temperatures and the light products mainly came from the cracking of branched isomers as a secondary reaction.
