Application of Modified Nonlinear Orthomin to Chemical Process Simulation
Many process models in chemical engineering consist of a set of non-linear algebraic and transcendental equations. The evaluation of their performances require the solution of these equations. This paper illustrates the application of Modified Non-linear Orthomin (MNLOM) for solving problems of chemical engineering interest. MNLOM is a recent method for solving a system of non-linear equations, in which square of the norm of function vector is minimised in each of the conjugate directions. Its success with the problems chosen, particularly from the Chemical Kinetics and Reactor Design, signifies positively of its accuracy and robustness. It is our view that MNLOM is a potential method and it should be made use of in Chemical Process Simulation.
