Enthalpies of formation of Mo-Pt alloys by high temperature direct reaction synthesis calorimetry
In the present work, the enthalpies of formation of Mo-Pt alloys are determined by high temperature direct reaction synthesis calorimetry at 1768 K (Mo6Pt. epsilon', MoPt2, and (Pt) solid solution) and 1526 K (MoPt). The following values are reported: Delta H-f(1768K) (Mo6Pt) = -13.0 +/- 1.9kJ/mol.at.; Delta H-f degrees(epsilon') = -26.1 +/-4.9kJ/mol.at.; Delta H-f degrees(MoPt) = -27.7 +/- 3.9kJ/mol.at.; Delta H-f degrees(MoPt2) = -36.9 +/- 1.8kJ/mot.at.; Delta H-f degrees(Pt) = -27.1 +/- 4.2 kJ/mol.at. The results are compared with predicted ab initio data. (c) 2008 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
