Synthesis, and study of magnetic properties, of Bi1-x Cd (x) FeO3
Ceramic Bi1-x Cd (x) FeO3 (x = 0.0, 0.05, and 0.1) samples were prepared by a citrate-gel method. The as-prepared compounds were calcined at 600 A degrees C for 3 h to obtain nearly single-phase materials. The crystal structure, examined by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD) and Rietveld analysis, confirmed that the samples crystallize in a rhombohedral (space group, R-3c no. 161) structure. Magnetic measurements were carried out on the resultant powders from 300 to similar to 2.5 K. Magnetic hysteresis loops showed a significant increase in magnetization as a result of Cd doping in BiFeO3.
