An algorithm for eigenstructure assignment by output feedback, that integrates subspace and parametric approaches to eigenstructure assignment is extended to the general case of multiple eigenvalues. The extended algorithm is less restrictive than another comparable algorithm. The approach taken enables a gain index for moderating the gain of the resulting controller to be provided.
