This paper discusses variables and uncertainty associated with the measurement of ionic conductivity of heterogeneous solids. The conductivity data of heterogeneous solids of diverse chemistries have been analyzed. All these solids exhibit space charge and blocking effects. The coexistence of the two effects may lead to significant scatter and uncertainty in the measured values if the variables are not isolated and controlled. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
