The polymer modification of different polyvinyl esters bound with azobenzene cross links is described. Polymers with azobenzene chromophores are found to be capable of transforming light energy into reversible alterations of physical and chemical properties. The results of the photostimulated dilation studies of the polyvinyl esters with azobenzene cross-links (AZO PVE) are discussed.
