3-Dimensional Temperature-Field of a Rectangular Array of Practical Air-Jets
The temperature field was measured below a representative section of a rectangular array of 165 air nozzles. The array was arranged in a rectangular pattern with three side-by-side columns. On the basis of energy conservation considerations, a single equation was developed that fits the data and can be used to predict the temperature at any position below the nozzle array. At large distances from the array, the temperature field approximates the field of a two-dimensional jet. An important use of this field study is in the design and improvement of devices used for producing melt blown fibers.
