Magnetic properties and magnetocaloric effect of Ce2GdCo11B4 boride
Magnetic properties and magnetocaloric effects of Ce2GdCo11B4 compound were studied by means of X-ray diffraction and magnetization measurements. The sample was prepared by arc-melting. The compound crystallizes in a hexagonal Ce3Co11B4-type structure with P6/mmm space group. Ce2GdCo11B4 compound orders ferrimagnetically at T-C = 301 K. A compensation point at T-comp. = 40 K was found. The maximum magnetic entropy change |Delta S-max| of Ce2GdCo11B4 is 0.306 J kg(-1) K-1 for a field change of 0-5 T The Arrott plots show that magnetic phase transition at the Curie temperature is second-order.
