Structural and Morphological Properties of Gold Nanodumbbells
Gold nanodumbbells (GNDs) are fabricated successfully via a simple electrochemical method in the presence of surfactant cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, cosurfactant tetradecyltrimethylammonium bromide, and acetone solvent. The difference in the shape of the nanodumbbells and the normal nanorods is observed in the diameter (width) section. The nanodumbbell's waist was thinner in diameter than that of its two ends. The normal nanorod, in diameter, is a unit from the middle to the two ends. The GNDs were determined through the selected area electron diffraction to be a single-crystalline with a face-centered cubic structure. Furthermore, the cross sections of the GNDs reveal an octagon structure via the rotation of the long axis of the nanodumbbells by means of the dark-field transmission electron microscopy.
