Use of Oscillating Gas Jets in Fiber Processing
Oscillating air jets were used to draw (attenuate) polymer streams in the process known as melt blowing. By oscillating the air jets, finer fibers can be produced than by using continuous air jets. Thus, there is an economic advantage to using oscillating air. Certain applied air frequencies are "resonant" with the melt blowing system; these frequencies give optimum results.
