A method for avoiding trivial roots in isothermal flash calculations using cubic equations of state
The variation of isothermal compressibility with temperature is unique for gases and liquids. Based on this relationship, a simple method is presented for identifying trivial roots which occur during isothermal flash calculations. The usefulness of the method are demonstrated for some mixtures. The results obtained with the proposed method are compared with those available in literature.
