Surface Organometallic Chemistry of Tin - Reaction of (N-C4H9)3Snh with the Surface of a Silica-Alumina - A C-13 and Sn-119 Solid-State NMR Investigation
The well-defined organometallic fragment -X-O-Sn(n-C4H9)3 has been characterized on silica-alumina. Surprisingly, only the species with X = Si is observed, while it is known that alumina can also form such complexes where tin can be in tetrahedral or octahedral form. This shows that a nonuniform oxide surface can lead to a uniform surface organometallic complex, the reaction of the starting organometallic complex with the surface being highly selective.
