Synthesis and X-Ray Structure of the 1st Nonpolymeric Chlorotetrakis(Carboxylato)-Diruthenium(II,III) Compound
The compound Ru2Cl(mu-O2CC4H4N)4(thf).thf.H2O was prepared by reaction of Ru2Cl(mu-O2CCH3)4 with pyrrole-2-carboxylic acid in methanol/water and recrystallization from thf/petroleum ether. The crystal structure shows two ruthenium atoms linked by four bridging pyrrole-2-carboxylate ligands; the axial ligands are a chlorine atom and a thf molecule. The nonpolymer nature of this compound contrasts with the polymeric nature of all chlorotetrakis-(carboxylato)diruthenium(II,III) complexes described.
