Ferromagnetic Interactions in the 1st bis(Mu-End-on-Azido)Manganese(II) Dinuclear Compound - (Mn(Terpy)(N3)2).2H2O
The manganese(II) dinuclear compound [Mn(terpy)-(N3)2]2.2H2O, containing bis(mu-end-on-azido) bridges, has been synthesized and structurally, spectroscopically, and magnetically characterized. To our knowledge, it represents the first Mn(II) dimer with this kind of bridging. The thermal variation of the ESR spectra show variable overlapped signals. Magnetic susceptibility data between 4.2 and 200 K are characteristic of intradimer ferromagnetic interactions in the compound, with J/k = +3.5 K and g = 2.0. Exchange interactions have been studied by using extended Huckel calculations.
