Growth, optical, thermal, piezo and ferroelectric studies on ethylenediamine ditartrate dihydrate (EDADTDH) single crystals
Single crystals of Ethylenediamine Ditartrate Dihydrate (EDADTDH) [2(C4H5O6)(-)] [(C2H10N2)(2+)]center dot 2H(2)O, which is organic in nature and showing non-linear optical, ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties was grown by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. The crystal has been subjected to powder X-ray diffraction analysis; thermal, optical, elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared and Fourier transform Raman spectral studies. The dielectric constant and dielectric loss of the crystal were determined as a function of frequency at various temperature and the results are discussed. The piezoelectric, ferroelectric and 1-V characteristics of the crystal have been studied and reported. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
