Nbni2.38Te3, a New Metal-Rich Niobium Telluride with a Stuffed Tafe1+xte3 Structure
The new metal-rich telluride NbNi2.38Te3 was synthesized and its structure determined by single-crystal X-ray methods. The structure consists of NbNi2Te3-layers which are interconnected by Ni-atoms on partially occupied sites at the layer surfaces. NbNi2.38Te3 can be regarded as a stuffed variant of TaFe1+xTe3. Metal-metal interactions are important for the stability of this compound. NbNi2.38Te3 shows metallic conductivity.
