Novel dimeric diazabutadiene complexes of aluminum have been prepared by treatment of LiN(t-Bu)CHCHN-(t-Bu)Li with AlCl3 or EtAlCl(2). The dimers are formed by means of donor-acceptor bonding between two pairs of nitrogen and aluminum atoms.
