Polymorphism of ((Tosylimino)Iodo)-O-Toluene - 2 New Modes of Polymeric Association for Arints
Two different polymorphic structures of (tosyliminoiodo)-o-toluene, o-TolylINTs, (1) have been determined. The structure of polymorph A (triclinic form) reveals a unique infinite ladder type polymer created by parallel single chain polymers of 1 (associated through I ... O linkages) bridged by weak I ... N interchain associations. The structure of polymorph B (monoclinic form) forms a polymer built of a backbone containing I ... O linkages, similar to half of the ladder structure of polymorph A. These two structures represent intermediate polymeric forms of the two extremes observed for PhINTs and MeslNTs.
