Preparation of ((Eta(5)-C5H5)(2)Tib6H9)(2) - A Metallo Derivative of Hexaborane(10)
The complex [(eta(5)-C5H5)(2)TiB6H9](2) is prepared through the reaction of K[B6H9] with (eta(5)-C5H5)(2)TiCl in THF. It is a member of a small class of metalloboranes which are edge-bonded derivatives of B6H10. The compound is a paramagnetic dimer, [(eta(5)-C5H5)(2)-TiB6H9](2). The Ti(III) atom is formally a 17-electron species as supported by ESR spectra. There is no evidence for Ti-Ti interaction. The proposed structure resembles that of [{(Ph(2)Me)(3)P)}2PtB6H9](2).
