Triammineplatinum(II) Coordinated to a Guanine Does Not Prevent Platination of an Adjacent Guanine in Single-Stranded Oligonucleotides
Adjacent guanines within single-stranded oligodeoxy-ribonucleotides are shown to bind easily two dicationic platinum centers. This type of cumulative binding, which is favored by high ionic strength, should be taken into account in kinetic studies of metal-DNA interactions, especially when the metal complex is in excess.
