A new form of polyheptatellurium dication, {[Te-7][ASF(6)](2)}(infinity), has been synthesized at room temperature and structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray crystallography. The new infinite polymeric chain consists of six-membered rings bridged through a tellurium atom; Its structure is discussed and compared to those of other tellurium cation systems, including another polyheptatellurium dication, {[Te-7][WOBr5](2)}(infinity), and the previously reported "{[Te-6][AsF6](2)".
