A Planar P2N4S2 Ring - Preparation and X-Ray Structures of Et(4)P(2)N(4)S(2)Cl(2) and (R(4)P(2)N(4)S(2))(Alcl4)(2) (R=et, pH)
The P2N4S2 ring in Et(4)P(2)N(4)S(2)Cl(2) exists in a distorted boat conformation with markedly unequal exocyclic S-CI distances. The reaction of R(4)P(2)N(4)S(2)Cl(2) (R = Et, Ph) with AlCl3 in CH2Cl2 yields [R(4)P(2)N(4)S(2)][AlCl4](2) in which the eight pi-electron dications R(4)P(2)N(4)S(2)(2+) exhibit planar structures with localized jc-bonding in the sulfur diimide units.
