First Example of Linear Strings of Equidistant Gold Atoms in Crystals of ((2,4,6-Me3C6H2Nc)(2)Au) (Au(Gecl3)(2))
Insertion of GeCl2 into the Au-Cl bond of (mesityl isocyanide)gold(I) chloride, followed by a ligand redistribution, leads to the title compound, which crystallizes in strings of alternating cations and anions with linear chains of equidistant gold atoms (Au1-Au2 = 3.435 Angstrom).
