Synthesis, structure, and magnetic properties of a cyclic dimer of bis(hexafluoroacetylacetonato)-{1,3-bis(N-tert-butyl-N-oxylamino)-5-tert-butyl-benzene}manganese(II)
The cyclic dimer 1 was obtained by the reaction of the diradical 1,3-bis(N-tert-butyl-N-oxylamino)-5-tert-butylbenzene with Mn(hfac)(2). A spin transition occurs in 1 on cooling due to ferromagnetic coupling via the bidentate diradical ligand. The temperature dependence of the magnetic properties can be interpreted quantitatively in the frame of the HDvV formalism.
