Syntheses and molecular structures of bis(tert-butylamido)cyclodiphosph(III)azane cage complexes of thallium(I) and indium(III)
The interaction of [((BuNP)-Bu-t)(2)((BuNLi)-Bu-t . THF)(2)] with TICl or InCl in toluene/tetrahydrofuran mixtures has produced the cyclodiphosph(III)azane complexes [((BuNP)-Bu-t)(2)(tBuNTI)(2)], 1, and [((BuNP)-Bu-t)(2)((BuN)-Bu-t)(2)In](2), 2, respectively, While 1 is the expected dinuclear thallium(I) helerocube, 2 is a dimer of mononuclear indium(II) cages that are connected by an unsupported indium-indium bond. The extremely air-sensitive 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P2(1)/c, with unit cell dimensions a=14.5050(6) Angstrom, b=16.5265(7) Angstrom, c=9.9564(1) Angstrom, beta=96.3006(9)degrees, and Z=4. Orange-yellow 2 crystallizes with four molecules in the orthorhombic space group Pbca, having unit cell dimensions a=12.9249(2) Angstrom, b=18.3492(1) Angstrom, and c=18.7763(3) Angstrom.
