The role of state density in collisions of highly excited molecules: An exponential decay function for the transition probability
Collisional energy transfer data from diode laser transient spectroscopy experiments are theoretically analyzed to understand the role of donor vibrational state density. The shape parameter of the large Delta E probability distribution function is mainly defined by the change in state density with Delta E. As a result, the correlation experimentally found between this distribution and the density of states is clarified. (c) 2011 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
