Securing reliable and undistorted access to raw materials is one of the challenges of the future for policy makers and industry. This has been underlined by the raw materials market distortions in the recent past. Development, use and marketing of emerging technologies depend on high-tech metals. For the German and European economies emerging technologies are at the same time the key to compete on global markets and for society prosperity. The article discusses the demand for raw materials supply and illustrates the stimuli to the key technology and economy.
