Material Flows as a Basis for an Innovative Control Concept for Municipal Solid Waste Incinerators
The production of refuse derived fuel for the use in energy-intensive industrial processes tends to result in waste fractions with high chlorine content. The disposal of these fractions in municipal solid waste incinerators (MSWI) is problematic, because chlorine plays a major rule in corrosion processes. Based on the material flows of chlorine in MSWI, a new control system of MSWI is introduced for reducing corrosion processes. A separate and controlled feed of waste fractions with high chlorine content is in the main focus.
