Despite the tremendously wide scope of the palladium-catalyzed Suzuki-Miyaura cross coupling, boron-based allenylation reactions of aryl halides are virtually unknown. It is now demonstrated that the borate complex formed in situ from B-allenyl-9-BBN and NaOMe in DMF allows aryl- and heteroaryl iodides to be allenylated under mild conditions.
