An unusual cyanide bridging lanthanide transition metal complex that contains the one-dimensional cationic array {[(DMF)(16)Yb-6(mu(6)-O)(mu(3)-OH)(8)(mu-NC)Pd(mu-CN)(CN)(2)](6+)}(infinity)
A new type of lanthanide-Group(10) transition metal mixed ligand complex is produced in the redox reaction of YbCl2 with K-2[Pd(CN)(4)] . H2O in DMF. This complex consists of a cationic; chainlike array {[(DMF)(16)Yb-6(mu(6)-O)(mu(3)-OH)(8)(mu-NC)Pd(mu-CN)(CN)(2)](6+)}(infinity) in which the molecular cluster, [(DMF)(16)Yb-6(mu(6)-O)(mu(3)-OH)(8)](8+), is linked by [Pd(CN)(4)](2-) dianions with additional [Pd(CN)(4)](2-) dianions serving as counterions.
