Poly(ethylene glycol) Embedded Potassium Tribromide (PEG.KBr3) as a Recyclable Catalyst for Oxidation of Alcohols
An efficient metal free polyethylene glycol wrapped potassium tribromide [PEG.KBr3] has been developed for the first time by using host-guest chemistry. The prepared reagent is found to be an efficient, stable, cost-effective, and recyclable catalyst for the oxidation of a variety of primary, secondary, 1,2 diols, and alpha-hydroxy to the corresponding aldehydes, ketones, and 1,2-diketones respectively, in high to excellent yields by using hydrogen peroxide as oxidant.
