Crystal growth and scintillation properties of Cs3CeC16 and CsCe2Cl7
Single crystals of Cs3CeCl6 and CsCe2Cl7 were grown by the Bridgman method. Both Cs3CeCl6 and CsCe2Cl7 have been evaluated for application in gamma ray detection. The scintillation properties of these crystals such as emission, decay time, light output and energy resolution are presented. Radioluminescence spectra showed emission band centered at around 400 nm for Cs3CeCl6 and 385 nm for CsCe2Cl7. Principal scintillation decay time is approximately 50 ns for both scintillators. Scintillation light yield was measured 19,000 ph/MeV for Cs3CeCl6 and 26,000 ph/MeV for CsCe2Cl7. (C) 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
