The nonstationary temperatures on the peaks of asperity of contacting rough surfaces have been determined for the sliding contact. Assuming that there exists circular source of heat on the surface of semi-limited body modelled by a half-space and a layer of finite thickness,,the influence of the boundary conditions on the temperature distribution resulting from friction is investigated.
